FISHING

This is a very unique part of the Zambezi. Mt Stephanie is set approximately 22 km’s below the Cabora Bassa Dam wall where the river runs deep and crystal clear 12 months of the year.

Given the remote location this section of the Zambezi River has not been spoilt in any way. There are no permanent villages in this concession. Most the local Mozambicans in the area concentrate on Gold Panning with a little subsistence fishing for day to day food.

Unlike other parts of the Zambezi River there are no other camps or boats in this section!!

With Tiger fish on average being 8 to 12 pounds. Biggest landed thus far has been 21 lb of pure river tiger power.

Fishing methods:

Mt Stephanie focuses on Lure and Fly fishing but will use bait such as worms for the Chessa, Nkupe and Labeo.

Targeted Species:

  • Tigerfish,
  • Monster Vundu,
  • Bream,
  • Labeo,
  • Nkupe
